Shoji Hano at The Now Now

Shoji Hano rocks out during his Now Now show on Sunday night in The Big Room, Newtown.

Japanese drummer Shoji Hano completely blew me away last night at a Now Now gig in the Big Room, Newtown. Playing a blistering solo set, his intensity, passion, power and technique left me a little deaf but happy. Check out his website www.shojihano.com. Two laptop acts followed him – one a duo comprising Ben Byrne and Ivan Lysiak playing choppy crunchy sounds, the other Gilles Aubry from Berlin playing field recordings overlaid with some pretty harsh and torturous drones. Mixing static and silence… at last

We’ve finally managed to nail down the incredibly busy Jorden Brebach to begin mixing our second album. We’re almost half way through the 5 track CD which is almost certainly to be titled Static and Silence. Some teaser tracks to come in the next few weeks…
